Broward County Library's Bienes Museum of the Modern Book, The Dianne and Michael Bienes Special Collections and Rare Book Library, and the Florida Center for the Book, are pleased to announce the 15th annual Florida Artists’ Book Prize. For the purpose of the Florida Artists’ Book Prize, artists’ books are works of art realized in the form of a book.
An exhibition of a selection of the entries and an award ceremony will be held in mid-March 2012, in the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book, 100 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
A panel of qualified judges assembled by the Broward County Libraries Division will review the entries in early 2012 and make a selection for award of the $2,000.00 prize. The 2011 Florida Artists’ Book Prize is funded through the Broward Public Library Foundation.

Entry must be original work completed or published in the calendar year 2011.

Entry must have been created or published in an edition (i.e. more than one copy).

Entry cannot be a trade edition (i.e. produced commercially by a publishing house for sale in the United States or internationally).

The artist’s primary residence must be in the State of Florida.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRY: Book entries must be received in the Bienes Museum by January 13, 2012.
- All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form.

While all artists are encouraged to participate, the prior year’s winning artist is ineligible to be selected as the winner.
Selected entries will be on exhibition at the Bienes Museum until June 15, 2012. Participating Artists will be notified if their entry was selected for exhibition or not.

Artists or their representatives are responsible for picking up the submitted entries:

All entries selected for exhibition should be picked up at the end of the exhibition, from June 20 through August 1, 2012.

Entries not selected for exhibition can be picked up by March 30, 2012.

All entries not picked up by the August 1, 2012, date will be returned to the address listed in the entry form, via U.S. Mail, uninsured.
By submitting the entry form, the artist acknowledges that he or she has copyright permission and model releases for any entry submitted. The artist gives Broward County permission to reproduce images of the book in any format for publicity and educational purposes. Broward County reserves the right to final approval of all text and titles referring to exhibition of the entry. The award-winning Artist’s Book shall become Broward County property for the use and benefit of the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book, without any restrictions in use, following acceptance of same by Broward County in accordance with Section 18.63 of the Broward County Administrative Code.
