March marks the importance of the public procurement profession. Broward County Purchasing Division joins other professional purchasing organizations to inform residents and colleagues about the impact purchasing professionals have on businesses, industries and governments. While complying with the comprehensive federal, state and county procurement and contracting laws, which govern expenditure of public funds, the Purchasing Division has been recognized by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners for its many accomplishments including: |

Receiving its sixth Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award from the National Purchasing Institute, and an Award of Excellence in Public Procurement from the Florida Association of Public Purchasing Officers, Inc.

Reaping over $3.6 million in cost savings through use of value added procurement strategies and staff initiatives such as strategic source, cooperative purchasing, voluntary price reductions, rebates, skilled negotiation, cost avoidance and due diligence.
On November 15, 2011, the Broward Board of County Commissioners enacted the Domestic Partnership Ordinance. Since the enactment, the Purchasing Division has been involved with answering numerous questions about the Ordinance. With hurricane season approaching, the Broward County Purchasing Division is seeking to update the list of vendors in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe counties who are willing to provide goods and services to the County in the event of a hurricane or other disaster. If you are interested, please ensure that you are registered with Broward County and have selected one or more of the commodity codes identified for emergency operations. On March 8, 2011, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners approved changes to the County’s Cone of Silence Ordinance and Procurement Code. Please read the letter from the County Administrator regarding the changes and the detailed information provided in the documents below. As a result of the changes, two additional pages are now available on this website. The Purchasing Division is pleased to announce a new link to Vendors seeking subcontracting opportunities with the County's Job Order Contracting Program (JOC) which is being administered by the Gordian Group. Visit the Gordian Group's Website.

The Purchasing Division is charged with the responsibility to procure all goods, services and construction for agencies under the supervision of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. Please note this excludes those sections of the government that come under elected officials or elected boards, i.e., Broward Sheriff's Office, Broward County School Board, the Clerk of the Court, Supervisor of Elections, Property Appraiser and other offices that may fall wholly or partially under the State. The Purchasing Division not only buys everything used by the Board of County Commissioners, but also handles all surplus sales.
